Clwyd Country Fair at Ruthin promises to be an event for the whole family

Clwyd 2020, the Royal Welsh Feature County for 2020 are taking over Ruthin Livestock Auction next bank holiday weekend (24-26 May) and Saturday 25 May will host Clwyd Country Fair with activities to entertain the whole family.

Saturday morning will start from 9am with the vintage tractors, which will leave the Auction around 10am for a tractor run around the Vale, sponsored by Mona Tractors. They will be returning after lunch and parking up at the auction for you to come and take a look.

From 10am the food and craft stalls will be open in the main hall with a variety of produce from the Vale of Clwyd for you to purchase. There will be a great variety of high quality local food producers selling their products. These include Chilly Cow ice Cream, Marina's Italian cakes and treats, Shlizzy's local fruity drinks, Owen & Edwards' local coffee, Swan's farm shop, Blodyn Aur, Welsh Mountain Kefir and many more.

There will be demonstration kitchen, and among the demonstrations on the day Beatriz Albo of Sabor d'Amor finalist on the BBC's 'Top of the Shop' programme will demonstrate how to make her famous Churros and local students from Coleg Cambria will also be demonstrating their culinary skills to the audience.

For the dog owner’s among you, there’s a dog show commencing at 14:30 with classes to suit all dogs and owners, and is being judged by a former Crufts competitor and judge. Classes include large and small dog breeds, sporting dog, dog with waggy tail and of course the dog the judge would like to take home.

There will various stalls present including Coleg Cambria, YFC, Mona Tractors, Clwyd 2020 and a wood carving demonstration. During the day you can also have a go at footgolf, laser shooting and harp playing. There will be activities for children of all ages to take part including a treasure hunt and a bouncy castle. We will also have the presence of some alpacas, with an alpaca shearing demonstration at 14:30.

At 16:00 we will start with the Speed Shearing competitions, which always deliver for spectators with an action packed programme and entertaining commentary from Will Hendreseifion. This promises to be a fun packed few hours with the bar managed by Clwyd YFC, and there will also be a hog roast, with the hog donated by CLD Meats, Denbigh and bread donated by Henllan Bread. Then from 8pm Mic ar y Meic will be playing tunes to take us into early Sunday morning.

Other events on the weekend include a noson lawen on the Friday evening sponsored by NFU and a Sunday Lunch on the Sunday sponsored by Cheval Liberte. HSBC have also sponsored the weekend.
